Who is Swanback Jacks

Swanback Jacks is a small breeder of English Jack Russell Terriers, the short legged variety of Jack Russell or AKC Russell Terriers. We got our name, Swanback, from a beautiful place in Aroostook County, Maine where we used to live. In the summer of 1998, we purchased our first English JRT from Shamrock Jacks and from there the fever began!
Swanback’s Jocco was that first dog and we began competing in racing, lure and go-to-ground events when he was a year old. I met some dear friends along the way and with their help, I learned the ropes and kept JRT eventing annually. From there, more terriers and events were added; history was made. Jocco lived to be a good old age of 18 1/2 years old. His solid foundation has created longevity, health, drive and desire. For example, all of our SWB dogs have passed the ATTS Temperament Test and been strong competition in Terrier events.

Swanback’s main goal is to keep these lively terriers healthy, both physically and mentally. We check for many hereditary and genetic diseases and do the best by the terriers in means of physical fitness, mental stimulation and nutrition. We feed a raw, fresh food diet, use the most minimal vaccines and incorporate natural dog care. It is our goal to not only preserve these old bloodlines but to try to improve upon them also. We challenge you to find a “shortie” breeder that does as much. It is of utmost importance that our terriers be placed with proper families that will continue what we start with each and every puppy.
